2008 RMS Science Symposium on "Advances in Earthquake Forecasting", Millennium Broadway Hotel, New York

After years of expectation and disappointment around earthquake prediction, there have been a number of important recent advances in the science of earthquake forecasting. In January, RMS brought together leading scientists from around the world to discuss the latest research in this dynamic area, and its implications for the insurance industry.

This year's annual conference was held in Scottsdale, Arizona at the stunning Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Hotel.

The U.K. Flood seminar, was held the afternoon of June 5, 2008, at the Dexter House in London. The seminar presented the latest RMS innovations in flood modeling and discussed critical issues around flood risk management.

This free half-day event covered such topics as:

A comprehensive view of U.K. flood risk and the importance of flood risk management
Flood risk specific to London
Modeling surface water flooding
Affects of climate change on U.K. flood risk
Insights into the new RMS® U.K. Inland Flood Model

This free half-day event brought together some of the world's leading terrorism experts to discuss how the global terrorism threat has evolved since 9/11, how it will continue to evolve in the future, the likely impact on the insurance industry, and how the RMS terrorism model has performed in assessing this risk.

The event was held in New York City on Wednesday, July 23 at the Landmark Hudson Theatre of the Millennium Broadway Hotel.

 

The 2008 RMS International Client Conference was held in Edinburgh, United Kingdom at the stunning Balmoral Hotel from Tuesday, September 23 through Thursday, September, 25 2008.

The 2009 RMS Client Conference will be held in Colorado Springs at the Broadmoor from May 5-8, 2009.
